Classic Car Rust Hotspots by Model
Every classic car rusts in its own places. These pages take one car at a time and show where it goes, what to look for, why it matters and how it is usually repaired, so you know where to put your torch and your screwdriver before you buy or start a restoration.
Each car has a 3D model you can turn over, with the hotspots pinned to the body. Drag to rotate it, use the view buttons to jump to the front, side or underneath, and pick a hotspot from the list to fly the camera to it.
Every hotspot is graded by how much it matters:
- Structural: affects strength. Rust here weakens the shell or chassis and is the expensive kind to repair.
- MOT failure risk. Heavy corrosion near suspension, steering or brake mountings fails the MOT, even where the car still feels sound.
- Cosmetic, but it spreads. It spoils the look rather than the strength, but left alone it spreads into the metal behind it.
